Claims Technician

Job description

The Bryte Risk Services Claims Technician's role is to process and monitor valid claims. To pay claims within mandate timeously and accurately and within policy cover. To process Third Party Approaches. To notify Recovery Technician of FAC RI, Recoveries and Salvage.

Key Tasks & Accountabilities

Effective processing of claims

  • Prioritise daily activities to enable processing and maintenance of all claims
  • Confirm cover, premium, risk item and loss that the loss is covered
  • Estimate is consistently accurate,
  • Liaise with stakeholders to gather and ensure accuracy of information
  • If required, inform other relevant departments within the claim’s environment claims (e.g. recoveries, salvages, Large losses above P250 000etc)
  • Deal with and ensure resolution of queries on an on-going basis
  • Obtain necessary documents, assessors report and make amendments to estimates
  • Continually update broker, agent or client and maintain diary system
  • Capture payments on TIAL, ensuring accuracy of banking details, invoice number, VAT numbers, class allocation, client release, etc
  • Finalize claims correctly & promptly
  • Review all open files on a regular basis
  • If encounter system problems, log calls timeously with relevant department
  • Effective control and monitoring of leakage
  • Continually update and maintain diary system
  • Ensure business standards and agreed SLA’s of all claims related matters are adhered to

Effective Customer relationship Management

  • Provide exceptional customer in line with Treating Customers Fairly
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders to facilitate problem resolution
  • Communicate with stakeholders often to inform of progress of claims
  • Manages the resolution of client queries quickly and accurately as possible
  • Manage turnaround times and meet deadlines
  • Monitor and manage the improvement of customer queries
  • Manage the handling of customer calls promptly, professionally and enthusiastically
  • Provide assistance to the team on escalated matters to resolve clients queries timeously
  • Provide ongoing feedback to relevant stakeholders including management

Effective adherence to company claims policy, standards and SLA

  • Adherence to all company policies at all times and be compliant
  • Complete relevant registers accurately daily if applicable
  • Adhere to all Company Guidelines and Processes

Management of Data, Costs and Vendors

    • Continuously monitor and manage the quality of the claims data captured on systems
    • Ensure effective and speedy enquiry/query resolution
    • Ensure effective and speedy payment resolution
    • Recommend improvements to reduce average cost per claim
    • Monitor & Review the service of different vendors and repairers with specific regard to cost containment and quality of work
    • Ensure compliance with company policies

Relationships - Internal

  • Management, Underwriting, Policy Admin, Sales, Liabilities Dept, Procurement, Executives, Head Office Claims Departments,

Relationships - External

  • Brokers, Agents, Clients, All Claims Suppliers and Service Providers, Regulatory Authorities

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Insurance Qualification (ISSA or CII or COP)

Experience

  • 2 years experience in claims handling.

Knowledge

  • Sound knowledge, experience and understanding of short-term insurance
  • Motor and Non Motor Claims Handling skills
  • Understanding of Bryte Risk Services philosophy and framework
  • Basic insight into group and departmental strategies and business plans
  • Clear understanding of Financial Services compliance framework
  • Sound knowledge of Bryte Risk Services organizational structure
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of relevant company policies, processes and procedures
  • Sound internal network
  • Knowledge of relevant IT systems
