Head of Internal Audit

Overview

The incumbent will be responsible for planning, organising and coordinating the Company's Internal Audit function to ensure the Company is provided with an independent and objective assurance service, designed to add value and improve all Company operations. S/he will assist Management in the effective discharge of their responsibilities, provide the Board and Audit Committee with an independent and objective assurance regarding good corporate governance.

Key Performance Areas

  • Implement fraud and corruption prevention mechanisms
  • Ensure availability of robust corporate governance structures and processes
  • Assess the adequacy and effectiveness of risk management processes
  • Review and report on the compliance of regulations, laws and guidelines in place
  • Provide accurate, timely and relevant information for effective decision making
  • Provide assurance on the existence, adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls, policies and procedures

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Auditing/Accounting or equivalent
  • Professional qualifications in Audit or Accounting (ACCA, CIMA, CIA, CISA, BICA, CA)
  • A member of a professional association in good standing (eg IIA, ACCA, CIMA, BICA)
  • Certified Internal Auditor qualification would be an added advantage

Experience

Minimum of eight (8) years auditing experience, three (3) of which should have been at senior management
