Job description
Reporting to the Group Human Resources Manager, you will provide quality Industrial and Employee Relations services to management and employees in order to foster a harmonious Industrial Relations Climate.
- Provide responsive and high quality support and advice to all employees and managers to ensure the appropriate management of all employee relations issues including in particular change management, grievances, poor performance and disciplinary action.
- Monitor organisational climate through conducting an annual climate survey and regularly visiting departments to identify areas of potential disputes and grievances, analyse IR trends and recommend proactive solutions to Departmental Heads and Managers.
- Formulate and update policies and procedures to ensure best practice.
- Interpret company policies and procedures to line management and employees to ensure sound Industrial Relations and equitable application of company policies and procedures.
- Provide technical and professional advice to line management and employees during grievance hearings to ensure compliance with labour law, company policies and procedures and fair resolution of grievances
- Record proceedings during internal disciplinary hearings and avail records to all concerned parties within the stipulated time.
- Prepare case files for labour disputes and Industrial Court cases, and represent the company to lead evidence when assigned.
- Counsel employees to prevent recurrence of transgressions for cordial working relations, documents and files counseling records to facilitate follow ups.
- Plan and organise management/Union(s) meetings and provides secretarial services.
- Ensure compliance with collective labour agreements between management and Unions on shop floor matters.
- Advise the Group HR Manager on IR training needs by analyzing the Industrial Relations environment in the company as well as the country in general.
- Keep abreast with legislative amendments and requirements to ensure compliance.
- Contribute towards the delivery of employee Wellness Programs.
- Participate in accident investigations and facilitate the submission of Workers Compensation Claims as required by regulatory agencies.
- Ensure that all Safety and loss control standards (Safety, Health and Environmental) contained in the Company’s standards are adhered to.
- Undertake any other related duties as directed by the supervisor for the advancement of the Company’s objectives.
Education / Professional Background
- Degree in Industrial Psychology or Human Resources Management.
- Strong Industrial Relations background.
- Excellent organisational and administrative skills.
- Report writing skills
- Legislative competence ( Botswana Labour Law and Regulations)
- Competent in Microsoft.
