Senior Broker

Qualification & Experience

  • Degree in Business Administration, Economics, Accounting or equivalent. They must also have a working knowledge of basic computer skills, Microsoft Office packages particularly Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
  • At least 3 years of working experience in pensions/financial services environment will be an added advantage
  • Certificate of Proficiency (COP) qualification is required.

Job overview

Applicants are invited from suitably qualified individuals for the position of Senior Broker within the Pensions Administration Division in Gaborone.

The role of the Senior Broker is to drive exceptional service for clients within pension administration division. The role also exists to serve as first point of contact for several pension funds clients, advise and effectively address member queries.

Key performance areas

  • Study and understand the rules of the Funds under administration and also gain basic knowledge of the appropriate Botswana legislation regulating the Pension Funds industry e.g. Pensions and Provident Funds Act, Income Tax Act and Non-Bank Financial Institutions Regulatory Authority (NBFIRA) Act of 2006.
  • Receive monthly contributions schedules, carry out membership reconciliation, update member accounts and collect and pay administration & consulting fees to Aon Botswana as per the Administration Contract.
  • Ensure that contributions are invested with the Asset Manager in a timely manner as per the client’s expectation.
  • Receive exit claims and register them, process tax clearance requests to BURS, assess the claims and check for required documentation and pay within the turn-around time as per the service level agreement. Conduct retirement counselling for members retiring from the Funds.
  • Prepare quarterly Board of Trustees meeting pack, yearly audit file, and ensure that the Funds have a Professional indemnity Cover in place.
  • Prepare and reconcile membership data for valuation exercise as requested by the Actuarial Consultant.
  • Ensure proper filling of all documentation relating to client’s claims, contributions schedules, correspondences and any other documents required for the smooth administration of the Fund
  • In general, manage every aspect of the Funds with a view to ensure that procedures are strictly adhered to as well as ensuring that service standards are maintained if not exceeded.
  • Undertake such other related duties as may be directed by the Account Executives and/or Senior Account Executives to meet the exigencies of the company.
  • Supervision of pension administration (Broker) and ensuring that control processes and higher service standards are maintained.
